UFC on Fox: Jacare vs Brunson 2 Odds

A battle of middleweights is the main event this weekend as the UFC returns with UFC on Fox 27: Jacare vs Brunson 2.

The middleweight main event is a bout between Ronaldo (Jacare) Souza and Derek Brunson. At Bovada Sportsbook, Jacare is a -160 favorite and Brunson a +130 underdog.

Jacare is 2-2 in his last four fights and heads into the weekend with a lifetime MMA record of 24-5 and one no contest, with three wins by knockout and 17 by submission. He last fought at UFC on Fox 24 in April where he suffered a surprising upset loss to Robert Whittaker by TKO as a -320 favorite.

Brunson is also 2-2 in his last four bouts but has won his last two to improve his record to 18-5 with 10 wins by KO and four by submission. He last fought at UFC Fight Night 119 in October and defeated Lyoto Machida by KO as a -175 favorite.

Jacare won by knockout when he and Brunson first squared off in 2012 under the Strikeforce banner, ending the bout in just 41 seconds.

Also on the UFC on Fox 27 main card is a featherweight bout between Dennis Bermudez and Andre Fili. At Bovada Sportsbook, Bermudez is a -160 favorite and Fili a +130 underdog.

Bermudez has lost his last two fights and sits at 16-7 with four wins by KO and three by submission. His last fight was at UFC on Fox 25 in July when he lost to Darren Elkens by split decision as a -290 favorite.

Fili is 4-4 in his last eight fights and hasn’t won back-to-back fights since 2013. His record is 17-5 with eight wins by KO and three by submission. He last fought at UFC Fight Night 118 in October where he defeated Artem Lobov by unanimous decision as a -190 favorite.

Finally, one other notable fight this weekend is a lightweight tilt between Jordan Rinaldi and Gregor Gillespie. Gillespie is heavily favored at -550 and Rinaldi is a +375 underdog.

Gillespie is undefeated in his MMA career at 10-0 with four wins by KO and four by submission. He last fought at UFC Fight Night 114 in August and defeated Alvaro Herrera by submission as a -245 favorite.

Rinaldi is 6-1 in his last seven fights and overall stands at 13-5 with one win by KO and eight by submission. His last fight was at UFC Fight Night 116 in September when he defeated Jason Gonzalez by submission as a -500 favorite.
