Rising MMA star Paige VanZant will headline her first UFC on Fox event this weekend when she faces Michelle Waterson in a closely handicapped match. UFC on Fox 22 will also feature the second episode of the Mickey Gall story, as well as a farewell fight by Urijah Faber.
Action on all 13 UFC Fight Night 22 matchups is available at the Bovada sportsbook.
VanZant is 4-1 in her career when handicapped as the favorite and is a slim -120 favorite over Waterson. She’s expected to face a tough test in Waterson, who is the former Invicta FC Atomweight champion. Despite Waterson’s pedigree, VanZant's close-quarters fighting style should prove to smother her opponent for what should result in a unanimous decision win.
Sage Northcutt has answered the call-out of Mickey Gall and the two are set to meet at UFC on Fox 22. MMA odds at Bovada have a -120 favorite option on Gall, while action on Northcutt comes with a -110 price.
We find these lines a bit surprising and think that Northcutt will be better than the lines are predicting. For that reason we like the slim upset option in this one, especially if Northcutt can maintain a good distance and use his striking successfully.
UFC odds are also available on the final UFC fight of Urijah Faber’s career. He will be up against Brad Pickett, and like the lines show, Faber is a big favorite thus far in the betting action. Action on the Faber victory opened at -450 and has held there all week. Faber should prove too technical for Pickett to handle, and we expect a Faber KO or submission win in the second or third round.
If you’re looking for another UFC odds upset option we think the best chance will come in the Alan Jouban vs. Mike Perry fight. MMA odds at Bovada have a +105 option on Jouban, and we think he is more than capable of out-muscling his opponent for the underdog payday. MMA betting on the Jouban win opened at even odds less juice at -110.
