UFC Fight Night: Poirier vs Johnson Odds

Another weekend of MMA betting is lined up with a UFC Fight Night card on Saturday night with twelve fights to wager on, including the UFC Fight Night 94 main event between Dustin Poirier and Michael Johnson.

The card will also feature a co-main event between the ever-exciting Uriah Hall and Derek Brunson, as well as the return of Evan Dunham against UFC newcomer Rick Glenn.

Poirier has won four straight fights since returning to Lightweight and he is a slim MMA odds -170 favorite at Bovada to beat Johnson at UFC Fight Night 94.

Johnson will be coming off two straight losses and may be out-gunned against the surging Poirier. Johnson’s best chance to pay out on the +140 underdog option will be to take the fight to the ground, but that may be a daunting task against the footwork and aggression that Poirier will surely bring.

We expect Poirier to be dominant early on, but if Johnson can weather the early storm his chances will improve if the fight enters the later rounds. We like the price on Poirier at this point, which has shown a slight climb from the initial -160 offering.

The UFC Fight Night 94 co-main event is handicapped in favor of Brunson, who sits as the UFC odds -200 favorite. That line has steadily climbed from the opening offering of -155, but we think we will go against the betting trend in this one.

Despite a small +160 underdog payday at Bovada, we think that the elite striking of Hall is worth the risk in this matchup.

It will only take one power shot from Hall to end this fight, and as long as he can stay off the mat he will have a chance to finish his opponent at any point.

Evan Dunham has not fought in 10 months but is handicapped as a heavy -315 favorite to beat UFC newbie Rick Glenn. This looks like the best chalk option on the UFC Fight Night 94 card, especially when one considers the disparity in experience in the Octagon between the two fighters.
