UFC action returns to Belfast, Northern Ireland this weekend with a stacked lineup of European fighters looking to make their mark in their respective divisions.
UFC Fight Night 99 will be headlined by a rematch between Middleweight contenders Gegard Mousasi and Uriah Hall, while the co-main event features UK favorite Ross Pearson pitted against Stevie Ray. MMA betting fans will also be able to get action on a closely handicapped matchup between Alexander Volkov and Timothy Johnson.
UFC odds on the main event at Bovada have Mousasi handicapped as a huge -550 favorite while upset action on Hall will pay +375. Mousasi is 17-2 when handicapped as the favorite, but in their first meeting it was Hall that landed the big shots for the KO win. Hall is currently on a two fight losing streak, but it just may be worth the risk to put a unit or two on the main event upset at UFC Fight Night 99.
The outcome of this fight will depend on which Uriah Hall shows up in Belfast. If he’s on his game he’s capable of beating anyone in the division, but if he shows up with his lackluster attitude as he periodically does, Mousasi will wear him down for either a late-round submission or decision win.
In the co-main event Pearson and Ray are currently at even odds less juice at -115. Pearson will be looking to rebound from a controversial loss in his last fight while Ray will be coming off his first loss since coming to the UFC. This fight should be a stand-up battle where Pearson is most comfortable, so we think he holds a slim edge in this matchup.
The 6’7" Volkov is a +120 underdog at Bovada while UFC odds of -150 are available on Johnson. Both fighters are finishers, so this one will most likely not go the distance. In a Heavyweight clash anything can happen, but we like the inexpensive option on Johnson for the simple reason that he should be the faster fighter.
