A stacked UFC 209 card is slated for this weekend that will include UFC Welterweight and UFC Lightweight interim title fights, and MMA betting fans can already get in on the action at Bovada.
Tyron Woodley and Stephen Thompson will go at it again for Woodley’s Welterweight strap following a majority draw in their first meeting, and UFC odds at Bovada have the challenger handicapped as a -165 favorite. Action on Woodley retaining his title is offering a +135 payday, and for us this one is a tough call to make.
One of them will make the right adjustments and come out on top this time around, but predicting which of the two fighters will put together the right gameplan and win the fight remains to be seen. We’ll let you make the call on this fight as we expect both fighters to be ready, willing and able to put on a spectacle and show immense heart throughout the fight. The best bet around this matchup will be the choice for the fight of the night pick.
The UFC 209 co-main event will feature two of the best in the division fighting for the interim title as Conor McGregor takes a short hiatus from the Octagon. Undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov will face the surging Tony Ferguson in what promises to be one of the best matchups that the 155-pound division has to offer.
Nurmagomedov is the -185 MMA odds favorite at Bovada, while action on Ferguson offers a +150 payday. This matchup is a classic grappler vs. striker battle, and for that reason we think Nurmagomedov should be able to control this fight on the ground for either a submission or a decision win. If Ferguson is to have a chance it will be early in each round where his superior striking skills could be enough to hurt his hittable Russian opponent.
If you’re looking for an upset opportunity on the UFC 209 fight card we recommend the Rashad Evans (-225) vs. Daniel Kelly (+175) matchup. Evans is 2-4 in his last six fights and seems to have lost his desire to fight at a higher level.
